Our Story

Jalsaghar Calcutta believes that jewellery can be more than ornament — it can be a carrier of art, memory and imagination.

Our journey began in Bengal, drawing inspiration from the visual world of Satyajit Ray, the playful literary imagination of Sukumar Ray’s Abol Tabol, Bengal’s disappearing jewellery traditions, and the Alpona of Santiniketan, particularly the work of Nandalal Bose. One of our collections was conceived as a tribute to his daughter, Gauri Devi, carrying forward the artistic spirit of that remarkable legacy.

Our search also travels beyond Bengal, entering into conversation with the works of Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Vincent van Gogh and Salvador Dalí.

Every Jalsaghar creation begins with a story — sometimes a painting, a poem, a film, a forgotten ornament or a fragment of history — and transforms it through craftsmanship into something intimate and wearable.

Jalsaghar Calcutta — where art becomes jewellery, and jewellery carries a story.
